The costs of children in care.

Approximately 1 in 20 children have been taken into care, some adopted, at some point in their lives. Nearly 60,000 children are taken into care each year. That's the entire population of 100 primary schools. Each case costs the taxpayer an average of £70K in legal fees, many cost over £350K. There are other costs, costs that needlessly drain the resources of local authorities, central government and charities. Private children's homes charge up to '£7000 per week per child' and foster parents in Slough for example get '£400 per week per child' Children in care cost the taxpayer over £830 million pounds a year. That's an average of £2,500 per child, per week-more than four times what it would cost to send a child to Eton

  1. i am sure many a grandparent would do a better job for half the £400 plus the child/ren would know and love there granparents/or any off there kin this is supposed to happen but dos it everything is a closed shop for imediate family caffcas is a sick sad joke and works in the best interests childless couples no disrespect to them meant in anyway and by all means they should adopt they sould a child /ren that have no imediate family. plus another thing i would say to safegaurd the child/ren family that are allowed to adopt should be on a trial adoption and if they fail in anyway or just adopt for the extra income, because they are out there. and this would double safegaurd the child/ren and then there would be know dout that it was in the child/ren's best interests. just because a couple are realy rich and can give them everything they want does not make them the best parents as per the beatles song money cant by you love.the love that kin can give you.and i could bet that is the SS's reason for in the child/rens best interest's.

anyone agree or disagree lets hear what u think,
